Free School Meals for All Pupils
All children from Reception to Year 6 receive a free school meal every day.
This is provided through:
-
The Government’s Universal Free School Meals (UFSM) scheme for Reception, Year 1 and Year 2
-
The Mayor of London’s Free School Meals initiative for Years 3 to 6
There is no cost to families.
How the Lunchtime System Works
-
All children are automatically booked a school meal each day
-
Pupils choose their meal at the counter, so there is no need for parents to select a meal in advance
-
Children can see the food before choosing, helping them make informed and confident choices
-
If your child prefers to bring a packed lunch from home, no action is required
We encourage all children to enjoy a school lunch. Meals are fresh, nutritious, and balanced, offering plenty of choice to help children stay focused and energised throughout the day.
Pupil Voice
Children have shared positive feedback about choosing their meals at the counter, including that:
- They enjoy having choice and independence
- They are more likely to eat food they have chosen themselves
- Seeing the food helps children with learning difficulties or specific needs
- They value being able to share feedback to help shape future menus
Medical and Dietary Needs
We take children’s medical and dietary needs extremely seriously.
All medical and dietary information is recorded on our school system, and staff have full access to the latest details and guidance to ensure every child is supported safely and appropriately.
Parents are asked to:
-
Check the medical and dietary information emails sent by the school
-
Contact the school office promptly if any details need updating
